Discover the charm of Lithuanian traditional crafts in the wicker weaving program, led by long-time craftswoman Marytė Janulienė. This is a certified non-formal adult education program that invites you to delve deeper into one of the oldest Lithuanian folk crafts - basket making.

About the program

"Wicker Weaving" is a practical series of classes designed for both beginners and those who want to deepen their skills in the art of weaving. During the training, participants will get acquainted with the main materials (natural wicker, reeds), tools, weaving techniques and traditional patterns. Each course participant will learn not only to make functional and aesthetic items (baskets, trays, boxes), but will also understand the cultural and historical significance of this craft.

The program includes:

  • Traditional weaving techniques and tools

  • Preparation and storage of wicker

  • Weaving of articles of various shapes and purposes

  • Developing creativity through craft

  • Applying safe work methods

  • Fostering ethnic culture

Who is this program for?

Lecturer

Marytė Janulienė is a certified traditional craftswoman, known for her diligence, pedagogical skills and love for Lithuanian heritage. She actively participates in educational activities, exhibitions and craft fairs, and her classes are appreciated for their warm communication, clear teaching and inspiring atmosphere.
