It is a quiet and bright activity that invites you to look up – where the straw-woven gardens spin like tiny worlds, breathing balance, harmony and the wisdom of ancient traditions. It is more than decoration – it is a symbol of holiness, cyclicity, the relationship between nature and man, reminiscent of a deep Lithuanian perception of the world.
In Lithuanian homesteads, gardens once hung above the table – swaying silently, they brought good luck and peace to the home. Today, such images are becoming rarer, but their meaning is no less important. The education “Secrets of Lithuanian Straw” invites you to return to this almost forgotten, but extremely meaningful craft – making straw gardens.
During the classes, participants will embark on a short journey through the symbolism of straw, the subtleties of its collection and preparation, and will get acquainted with the structure of the garden and the necessary tools - a needle, thread, hand and patience. Led by an educator, everyone will learn to weave a rattan - a small part of the garden world, from which a magnificent work of art is later born. At the end of the education, participants will not only make their own small straw garden, but will also take home a light memory in their hearts - about a time when everything was slower, about the beauty born from simple straw, and about a silent connection with the spirit of Lithuanian tradition.
