Šiauliai District Municipality Center for Ethnic Culture and Traditional Crafts

Educational program "Soap wrapped in wool"

Wool felting is an old Lithuanian craft that recalls the deepest traditions and a close connection with nature. This education invites you to touch this material through a unique process - wrapping natural soap with wool, using water, heat, gentle movements and creative freedom. Wool not only gives the soap a unique aesthetic appearance, but also turns it into a natural combination of a sponge and a massage tool.

The activity is intended for both children and adults - for the little ones it is a great sensory and creative activity that develops fine motor skills, color perception and diligence, and for the older ones - a meditative time for themselves. During the activity, participants are provided with all the necessary tools: natural soap, wool, water containers and the help of an educator.

This education is led by a craftswoman, in whose hands wool becomes a living, warm story. It is not only an introduction to Lithuanian handicraft, but also a true art of the senses – a harmony of scents, warmth, hand movements and colors. By taking home their inherited soap, participants take home not only a unique item, but also a peaceful, therapeutic memory of creativity – a reminder that beauty lies in simplicity, and handmade work has a special power.
