This is a cozy, slow and hands-on education that invites you to experience one of the oldest and most sophisticated Lithuanian crafts - weaving. The colorful threads, the rhythm of weaving, and the beats of the loom seem to take you back to the times when each fabric had its own purpose and each strip had a meaning.
Weaving has existed in Lithuania since time immemorial – both women and men were engaged in it. Shepherds braided ribbons for animals, girls wove towels, and young women prepared their dowry chests. Today, weaving remains a living connection with the past – not only a technique, but also a peaceful process that allows you to hear yourself, the history of your land. During the education, participants will learn about the origins of the weaving craft, its symbolism and significance in everyday life and holidays. Everyone will have the opportunity to touch authenticity – try various weaving techniques: braid a shepherd's ribbon of 5-7 threads, try weaving on old mechanical looms and create a wicker ribbon on hand looms.
This is not just education about the craft - it is an experience that allows you to feel time, tradition and a silent connection with the masters of the past in your hands. The activity is intended for both children and adults - for everyone who wants to experience the joy of creativity and take away not only a handmade ribbon, but also a warm memory.
