On September 13, the square of the town of Žasliai was filled with bustle, music and traditions. The “12th Traditional Crafts and Folklore Festival” was held here, bringing together craftsmen, folklore enthusiasts and culture lovers from all over Lithuania. It was not only a festival, but also a meeting place for those who preserve national heritage, share experiences and inspire communities to continue traditions.
The highlight of this year's event is the cooperation of traditional craft centers . Craftsmen from various regions gathered in Žasliai to present their activities, demonstrate their crafts, invite people to education sessions and share their accumulated experience. It became a space not only to show their work, but also to establish new friendships and cooperation ties.
The team of the Šiauliai District Municipality Ethnic Culture and Traditional Crafts Center also participated in the celebration, and we are glad that the Vice Mayor of Šiauliai District Mindaugas Sadauskas and the Culture Department Specialist of Šiauliai District Municipality Paulius Andruškevičius were also there. They greeted those present and wished that such celebrations would continue.
Guests of the festival could not only observe, but also get involved in the activities themselves: chat with craftsmen, learn the secrets of old crafts, participate in educational events, and purchase handmade products.
The 8th Lithuanian Šakočiai Baking Championship attracted a lot of attention, bringing excitement and sweet smells to the square. The mood was supported by performances by folklore groups , reminding us that tradition is a living song, dance, and fellowship.
The event was hosted by actress Asta Baukutė , whose humor and energy created a special mood – sincere, playful and warm. She gave the celebration lightness and intimacy, and at the same time – even more liveliness.
The event was not limited to entertainment - a relevant information program was also held. "Innovations in the Regulation of the Activities of Traditional Craft Centers" was presented at a seminar held in the Eldership Hall, and a discussion took place on stage "The Value of the National Heritage Product Brand. Recognition of Tradition or a Marketing Tool?".
